Mindful Mornings

Creating a mindful morning is a great way to practice self-care and set yourself up for a joyful and successful day. It takes time to develop a strategy and routine that works for you. Finding some things you can incorporate in your daily life can add positivity not stress into your morning! It is not about adding another checklist or added chores to your life, just adding healthy practices to increase your energy, mindset, focus and mood! Here are some ideas that you can pick from to add into your mornings!

  • Hydration - starting the day off with a LARGE glass of water or a mug of warm lemon water is a great way to replenish and get the digestion going!

  • Get outside - stepping outside to let your eyes adjust to the morning light and taking in a deep breath of fresh air can increase energy, improve mood and help with regulating your circadian rhythm.

  • Personal hygiene - perhaps while your tea is steeping or coffee is brewing you can refresh with brushing your teeth, flossing, tongue scraping or oil-pulling, and cleanse and hydrate your skin. I love to dry brush and guasha my face and use my favorite oils, serums, creams to feel fresh and get my skin perked up for the day.

  • Breathwork/Meditate/Journal - taking some quiet time to reflect in the morning really helps to focus on how you want to spend your mental energy and release any stress built up from the day before.

  • Exercise - finding an activity that you enjoy is most important! Starting the day off with some form of movement is so helpful to optimize your energy output, balance blood sugar and regulate appetite, improve digestion and stimulate your metabolism.

  • Meal prep! Prep your food for the day - put together simple nutrient dense meals that you can grab in a pinch to optimize your health and stay on track with your health goals. When we don’t have a plan or healthy foods readily available it is much easier to give in to our cravings for unhealthy snacks or fast-food.

  • Read - even just a quick paragraph of something that uplifts and inspires you can improve your day and give you something to motivate you if the day gets stressful.

I encourage you to find a few things to try out into your daily routine. Give it 21 days to form a habit in your daily morning ritual to see incredible changes! Have a great day!
