Self-Love Begins with Self-Acceptance.

1. Find your Purpose and Passion

There can be barriers when it comes to adopting positive behavior change. This can include the feeling that movement and exercise is painful or just simply not enjoyable. However, exercise can be enjoyable! When performed regularly, exercise generally leads to improved mood, more energy and higher levels of happiness.

The benefits of exercise can go beyond physical benefits. This can include increased cognitive and mental health such as reduced risk of depression and anxiety and increased quality of life. Find YOUR movement that bring you joy and something you can maintain regularly.

2. Focus on your Feelings

Throughout the day try to shift your focus on how you are feeling such as your energy. Try assessing your day by tracking different variables, like how rested you feel, how often you smiled or laughed or felt worried or sad, and how much enjoyment you experienced that day. You might begin to notice patterns that show which circumstances or situations make you feel happier or more stressed. You can change your mindset by repeating mantras or meditations that can help improve your self-awareness and your feelings toward yourself.

3. Participate in Self-Care

Imagine that the inhale of a breath is helping yourself. The exhale is helping others. It is important to listen to your body and give it appropriate fuel and recovery time when needed. Participate in activities that feel good to your body. Examples such as taking a bath, a nap or a leisurely walk are very beneficial for stress relief. You might also consider starting a gratitude journal and writing down three things you are grateful for each day. The more you focus on the positives in your life, the more it becomes your default mindset.

4. Surround Yourself with Positivity

Find a network of people that provide you with a positive outlook and experience. Participating in movement opportunities with others can increase your chances of sticking with the plan.
